Set-Caching Brings Winter Fairytale to Life with Pavel Trávníček
Moritzburg (Saxony), April 30, 2026 – Czech actor Pavel Trávníček is returning to the camera for a very special project — and at the original filming location, Moritzburg Castle. A new interactive experience based on the fairy-tale classic Three Wishes for Cinderella is currently being produced there for the “Set-Caching” app.
Under bright blue skies above Moritzburg Castle, a very special moment unfolded not only for film and fairy-tale fans: Czech actor Pavel Trávníček, best known as the prince in the cult 1973 film Three Wishes for Cinderella, has returned to the original filming location in Saxony. Following heart surgery earlier this year, the 75-year-old actor has now appeared on camera again for the first time.
Cinderella’s Prince Returns to the Camera
The occasion is the production of a new digital filming-location experience for the “Set-Caching” app. As part of an interactive tour dedicated to the beloved Cinderella classic, fairy-tale fans will be able to independently explore multiple stations around the Moritzburg Castle grounds using their smartphones, visiting the film’s original shooting locations.
Embedded in enchanting storytelling, app users will experience a unique blend of original film scenes and newly produced exclusive videos featuring Pavel Trávníček at the authentic filming site. A real fairy-tale narrator and a lovingly illustrated owl guide users through interactive challenges. Augmented reality elements and digital mini-games allow film enthusiasts and families with children to immerse themselves year-round in a magical “Set-Caching” mission at Moritzburg Castle.
Every project connected with Cinderella is, in its own way, always wonderful. This project shows how the fairy tale continues to be brought back to life with ever-new ideas,” says Pavel Trávníček. “And personally, I’m thrilled that even after all these decades, it continues to inspire audiences and visitors again and again,” Trávníček adds, as he enthusiastically masters scene after scene in German.
In one scene, he carefully polishes the very window through which Cinderella watches the royal ball in the original film. After all, it must remain spotless, because behind it was where the prince first danced with his Cinderella, Trávníček jokes with a wink.
The new Set-Caching experience at Moritzburg Castle is being produced by Set-Jetting GmbH from Halle (Saale). The inspiration for developing the app came from a deeply personal experience for 48-year-old CEO and media computer scientist, Frank Rößler. “The idea of creating an app for experiences at filming locations of movies and TV series actually came from my children. They were huge Bibi & Tina fans and desperately wanted to visit the Kakmann Ranch. But when we arrived at the Nebra Ark in Saxony-Anhalt, where the Nebra Sky Disk was discovered, they realized there was nothing there from the Bibi & Tina film — no horse, no Hans Kakmann. That was the spark for me.”
In May 2021, Rößler founded his own company and, as part of the MEDIAstart start-up initiative of Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), developed the “Set-Caching” app. It combines real-world filming locations with digital content, making cinematic worlds directly accessible on site.
For this innovative approach to film tourism, the Set-Caching app received the 2023 Saxony-Anhalt Tourism Award in the digitalization category.
Today, more than ten Set-Caching experiences are available at various filming locations, including Wernigerode for The School of Magical Animals, Blankenburg for Woodwalkers, and the Nebra Ark for Bibi & Tina.
The projects have involved renowned contributors such as director Detlev Buck, actors Charly Hübner and Luis Vorbach, authors Margit Auer and Katja Brandis, film composer Niki Reiser, and many others.
For Rößler, the Moritzburg project is particularly special — not least because it represents, in his view, a new way of honoring film classics and making them accessible to future generations:
“With the tour here at Moritzburg Castle, it will soon be possible to immerse yourself playfully in the fairy-tale world with Pavel and the film’s highlights even during the summer.”
The new Three Wishes for Cinderella experience will be available in the “Set-Caching” app starting in June 2026.
The project is realized with the kind permission of the DEFA Foundation and ProVox Music Publishing and licensed through DEFA Distribution GmbH and PROGRESS Film GmbH.
