Halle (Saale), January 2026 – Saxony-Anhalt is a land of film, and with WOODWALKERS 2, it is once again featured on the big screen. The filming locations of the successful fantasy series include Ilsenburg and Blankenburg in the Harz Mountains. With the “Set-Caching” app, the latter can also be experienced as an interactive mission.

In WOODWALKERS 2, which will be released nationwide in cinemas on January 29, 2026, the atrium of the Goethe School in Ilsenburg serves as the central interior set for Clearwater High – the school of the shape-shifters. Just a few kilometers away, filming for the first installment of the trilogy took place: the Blankenburg sandstone caves appeared in Woodwalkers 1 as a secret fighting and transformation spot. Now, film fans can immerse themselves in the world of the shape-shifters themselves – through the interactive Set-Caching mission “The Stones of the Woodwalkers – In the Footsteps of a Legend.”

Set-Caching Experience Delights Thousands of Users

The digital filming location experience in Blankenburg (Harz) has already proven highly popular. Using their own smartphones and the free Set-Caching app, visitors at the foot of Regenstein Castle can follow the trail of a Woodwalkers legend. In search of a particular stone, participants encounter six interactive stations around the Blankenburg sandstone caves, featuring exclusive videos with Woodwalkers experts, original film scenes, puzzles, mini-games, and a spectacular augmented reality finale.

“We are receiving consistently positive feedback,” says Frank Rößler, CEO of Set-Jetting GmbH and creator of Set-Caching. “The Set-Caching mission in Blankenburg currently has an average user rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. We are also delighted with more than 10,000 app downloads and over 30,000 Set-Cam photos captured as keepsakes.”

The integrated Set-Cam allows visitors, for example, in the Woodwalkers mission, to take photos directly at the filming location alongside the character Holly, played by actress Lilli Falk, creating personal mementos to save or share.
