SET-CACHING celebrates its 10th experience with a new mission in Blankenburg for the feature film “WOODWALKERS”
Following the great success of the interactive filming location experience tour launched in 2024 for the movie “The School of Magical Animals” in Wernigerode, the Harzer Tourismusverband — together with Set-Jetting GmbH and with financial support from Saxony-Anhalt as part of its digital tourism product development program — has implemented another exciting mission, this time dedicated to the feature film Woodwalkers in Blankenburg.
With the new Set-Caching experience “The Stones of the Woodwalkers – In the Footsteps of a Legend”, Set-Jetting GmbH celebrates the tenth interactive adventure in its award-winning app.
The new tour takes film fans through six stations leading to the Blankenburg sandstone caves — the original filming location of the cinematic adventure Woodwalkers.
While the first part of the film is currently thrilling audiences on Netflix, fans can already immerse themselves in the world of the shapeshifters ahead of the theatrical release of Woodwalkers 2 in January 2026.
Filming with Author, Actress, and Film Crew
For the new experience, author Katja Brandis, actress Lilli Falk, animal trainers Katja Elsässer and Miguel de la Torre, VFX supervisor Max Riess, and Klaus Dumeier, managing director of Harzer Wandernadel, stepped in front of the camera for Set-Caching. They offer exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into the creation of the Woodwalkers universe — from film wolves and visual effects to a mystical stone circle. The specially placed stones used in the film mark the transformation and battle site of the Woodwalkers and now form the highlight of the Set-Caching mission:
A spectacular augmented reality finale brings many of the original film animals back to life.
For Lilli Falk, the actress from central Germany who plays the shapeshifter Holly the red squirrel both in the film and in the Set-Caching mission, the shoot was a special experience:
“It was fascinating to step into my role again in this new format — not for the big screen this time, but for the visitors to the filming location. It’s so cool that the stones are still there — I really felt like I was back on set!”
“With the new Woodwalkers mission, we’re showing how closely film, filming location, and leisure experience can be connected,”
says Frank Rößler, Managing Director of Set-Jetting GmbH and creator of the Set-Caching app.
“It’s our most elaborate project to date — and a wonderful example of how Saxony-Anhalt, as a film region, not only presents stories but makes them come alive.”
Carola Schmidt, Managing Director of the Harzer Tourismusverband, adds:
“Set-Caching brings a new dimension to the Harz. Visitors can explore our region through the magic of cinema — interactive, emotional, and family-friendly. It strengthens our appeal, especially for families.”

The Film:
The Woodwalkers films are based on the bestselling book series by Katja Brandis, beloved by millions of young readers.
The movies are produced by blue eyes Fiction in co-production with Studiocanal, which also handles distribution.
After the great success of the first installment — currently streaming on Netflix — Woodwalkers 2 will hit German cinemas in January 2026.
These fantasy adventures explore themes of friendship, courage, and environmental awareness, following teenagers who can transform into animals—the so-called Woodwalkers.
Set-Caching combines the excitement of geocaching with the magic of film and television.
The app guides movie fans, explorers, and families to famous filming locations where AR, video, and gameplay blend into emotional leisure experiences.
With the new Blankenburg mission, there are now ten interactive adventures available in Saxony-Anhalt — including experiences based on Bibi & Tina, The School of Magical Animals, and Der Räuber Hotzenplotz.
For this innovative concept, Set-Jetting GmbH received the Saxony-Anhalt Tourism Award 2023 in the Digitalization category.
Project partner is NFP media rights GmbH & Co. KG, a Halle (Saale)-based company specializing in the production and distribution of audiovisual content since 2001.
