PerioTrap raises €2.7 million with private investor support
Halle (Saale), 06.02.2025– PerioTrap Pharmaceuticals, an innovative biotech start-up from Halle (Saale), has closed a further financing round of 2.7 million euros.

In addition to bmp Ventures with the IBG Venture Capital Fund IV and existing investors such as Fraunhofer Venture, i&i Prague and a strategic partner, private individuals also invested. More than EUR 1 million was raised via a crowd-investing campaign on the Companisto platform. The company, which specializes in the development of innovative therapies for periodontitis, relied on the support of the general public with its mass-market product and clear business model.
“We took in significantly more than planned,” says Pierre Tangermann. A surprise success at the right time and in the right place. “The Companisto team knew exactly what would work, and their guidelines helped us to focus specifically on the equity story in our exposé, pitch and campaign video. We were able to convince almost 700 private investors,” says the CEO and founder of PerioTrap.
With the German provider Companisto, a conscious decision was made to use the market leader in online corporate financing. According to the company, over 100 start-ups and growth companies have already been financed via the network, including well-known examples such as the food start-up KoRo and Kauz, a platform for AI assistants.

The broader crowd allows for more flexibility. “In addition, the crowd provides us with free marketing and allows us to bundle many small investors – a major advantage, even if the coordination process will be more complex in future.”
PerioTrap will use the funds raised to drive forward the further development and market launch of an innovative gel for professional tooth cleaning and its own toothpaste in order to effectively combat this serious gum disease and help millions of patients worldwide.
